Cometic uses stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a Viton rubber material designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. First filter change at about 28000 miles. Original filter was pretty dirty but OK on intake side. WIX filter is quite a bit thicker but fits my 2016 RAM 5.7L Hemi fine. Also cleaned out the bottom side of the air filter box. The WIX filter is much cheaper than the Mopar and seems to have a similar construction but is much thicker. Assuming the filter media is the same, the WIX should in theory filter and breathe better (more surface area) - but I am no expert so.
